I live in a rather dangerous area so having my phone robbed is something I always need to have in mind, some people around here even have "backup phones" so they won't be out of a phone in case they're robbed, so there's always a real possibility I'm gonna be locked out of my 2FA and in turn locked out of my accounts, in fact, this has happened before, and it was really troublesome to get back inside all of them, and I was only able to get in some after recovering my phone number.
And the most common answer to that is "write down the backup codes somewhere", but is that safe? Isn't that basically writing down my password?
