Washington Health Plan Hacked, Personal Info and Social Security Numbers Exposed

The Community Health Plan of Washington (CHPW) confirmed that it was affected by a breach on November 7 that exposed the personal details of its members. The organization said in a press release that access to the server storing all these details was disabled once it found out about the breach and is now working with the FBI on finding the individual or group responsible for the hack. “CHPW notified the Washington State Health Care Authority and the Washington State Office of the Insurance Commissioner of the incident, and reported the matter to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI),” the company’s notification reads.
