🐧 Can't install Linux on my old MacBook

Hey, so I have a MacBook Pro 2011, which already had its best years behind, and I tried to bring it back to life.
I already tried to boot Zorin OS Core and Linux Mint Cinnamon (don't judge me) from USB. But after starting it, it shows nothing but the cursor and the wallpaper. No UI, no icons, just the cursor and the wallpaper. So I couldn't install the OS. The compatibility mode didn't work either. And instead of giving up, I want to ask if one of you guys could tell me what to do.
Thanks in advance!
PS: I'm pretty sure the system requirements are sufficient. Also I completely removed the display from my MacBook and I hooked it up on an external display, which works fine.
