🐧 How uninstall gimp

I'm new to Linux and I'm loving the experience so far especially after the years of abuse I've spent with Windows, I'm overwhelmed with the sharp learning curve in Linux but I'm willing to continue, however, I really can't get along with how it handles softwares and, as Linux calls them, packages. I'm trying to add a pattern to gimp but I'm unable to access its directory to paste the pattern, (not to mention it took me an hour to even find the directory in the first place) I've searched online and tried everything but gimp folders are either inaccessible or not even there, terminal tells me that the directory is locked. I gave up and wanted to uninstall it, gimp isn't even found when I run the list command, I usually uninstall programs with synaptic package manager and it works but not with gimp, I tried to delete the gimp folder i found in the system files but couldn't, i even started deleting random files of gimp using the synaptic package manager desperately trying to remove gimp, i removed some and couldn't remove other, lastly I ran sudo -i command to get root access and delete the directory but still doesn't works and after all that when i run gimp it runs normally like I've done nothing, it's really frustrating so I'd be thankful if anyone can help, I can go back to windows and do whatever i want in seconds but I really want my Linux experience to be full and i don't want to go back to windows unless for games.
