🐧 I tried Linux. I failed. Maybe another time.

Been using Windows 10 for a while. Some annoying little things happen every now and then, so I decided to try Linux by dual booting. Also, I'm learning web development and I read about the multiple benefits using Linux has.
So yesterday I installed Linux Mint 19.3 and it worked... but – Upon installing the proprietary nvidia drivers and rebooting, I got the black screen issue. After trying to fix it for a few hours, very frustrating hours, I thought, 'Fuck this, I give up.' Half an hour later though I thought, 'Why not try to install Ubuntu 20.04?'
And so I did. I was surprised to find that I like the look and feel of it much more than Linux Mint. And the proprietary driver installed, no issues. I was happy. I went to bed.
This brings us to today. I experienced stuttering when watching videos, and then even observed screen stuttering (sorry if that's not precisely the right term) while scrolling on forums trying to fix the issue. This was on Firefox, I tried Opera and it was even worse.
So I switched back to Windows. I wish Linux just worked, I like it more, and I know it would benefit me as a programmer. But ffs, it didn't work out. I could spend more hours trying to fix these issues but I'm already frustrated with the day and a half of time and energy that I lost.
Thank you for reading my vent.
Edit: For reference, my GPU is GeForce 820M, and the driver I installed is nvidia-340, version 340.108. Also, I'll actually keep trying, sorry for the now misleading post, but I won't delete it in case someone who went through something similar finds this helpful in some way.
