๐ Now's a good time to update your servers to use UUID instead of /dev/sd*

Ran into an odd bug on a Debian 10.x system updating to a newer kernel. I use Linode, and the VM had originally created using /dev/sd\* entries in /etc/fstab. Anyway, you end up with an order-of-events issue, where the device that's supposed to be root, isn't root anymore, and update-initramfs gets angry with you; so you end up not being able to boot your system. If you're lucky, you can at least use initramfs when it comes up to do a chroot & fix /etc/fstab, but you have to get the UUIDs from initramfs first. A few years ago, I had a chance to write a script for this very purpose; wish that was public...
TLDR: if your Linux isn't using UUID in /etc/fstab right now, it'll probably break in the future, so fix it now, please.
