๐ I disagree - That there's so many good linux distros to choose from.

Something we've always heard is how many linux distros you have to choose from. Yeah, that's true, if you feel like counting all the goofy weirdness like the Britney Spears distro and the evil distro circulated by the chinese government. Oh and then there's the abandonware distros that nobody really knows is abadonware, but yeah.. it is. They're not working on it. It'll get another update a year from now, if ever.
So if you cut out all the trash (and there's a lot of trash) we're actually left with only a handful of real, viable distros that should be given any real consideration. I'm in the camp that views Canonical as "The microsoft of Linux" because that's the type of behavior they've displayed. So if you don't appreciate their antics and you only look at good organizations that actually have a team big enough to do the work... what are you left with? What distros should actually be given consideration, if you do the real research and not just go with fanboy opinion? My money is on the number being small.
You'll have Debian, Arch, Fedora, and the rest of the old school list. Although some of them have faltered as well. You might have a few others I haven't fully looked into and vetted, like Void Linux. But how many are we talking about? Who's in the top tier? I have a feeling the number is less than 10. Ten good, solid distros with a good team and a good history and good reputation. Thoughts?
