Do NOT ..For any reason .. modify the boot sector of a different physical drive - unless specified by the user.

I love linux as much as the next guy but some decisions by some developers are enough to drive one bonkers . I experienced this issue 4 years ago where installing an ubuntu based distro modified the boot sector another drive . I thought that it was a bug . Today I needed a fresh install and decided not to disconnect all 5 drives thinking the bug ought to be fixed by now.. nope. All 5 drives were modified just so that Grub can have a neat little menu showing the various OS'es installed.. No.. Just No.. Motherboard boot menus work just fine.. Now I have to go hunting down windows license keys and recovery tools as well as live linux disks . Something I wasnt planning to do any time soon
