Suggestions for games that can be played on the terminal

To provide a bit of background, we, as part of a club in college plan to conduct a session wherein we introduce our juniors to Linux and some of the basic commands. We were thinking of including a few games (preferably those which can be played on the terminal) at the end of the session to make the whole event memorable for the students.

I need suggestions for some simple games, be it of any genre. If it's a multiplayer game which can be self-hosted or allows creating a "party" to play among ourselves, that'd be really helpful! Either way, please do include your suggestion as long as the game came can be played in the terminal.

I did search on this subreddit and on DDG, but some of the posts I found were quite a few years old. So, I've created this post in order to know about any interesting ones that have been released recently.
