📚 Anti-malware / EDR Recommendations?

What are people using to keep the malware at bay, now that ransomware attacks are making it plain that Linux systems are not immune to malware?

I've been using clamscan with a daily scan and a freshclam run each day also. I'm finding it slow and resource-intense.

I looked at Sophos Home but of course it only supports Windows & Mac. My machines are linux but this is an at-home installation and so my $budget is minimal. I would love to find some good FOSS package I can try and then make a donation.
