๐ EXT4 dir_index problems

Can anybody help me with the following problem: I removed the dir_index feature from my ext4 fs mapped on /, because i had hash collisions in it after putting >6mio files inside one directory. I still have many files to delete there and the process takes ages. It seems like the performance difference is too big to disable it. I tried force umounting it, but then the index_rebuild commands had problems with missing files or directories (etc/fstab missing and so on) and i had to force poweroff the server at my hosters control center. What should i do to delete the files i want to delete - how can i rebuild the index without umounting the device and is there any other way to prevent hash collisions inside the dir_index?
