๐ A question about dual booting on same drive

I'm thinking about dual booting linux in the same drive as my preexisting windows installation. Windows is installed on a SSD and I also have a HDD for backups and such.
I thought about creating a partition on my SSD (I want things to be fast) for the dual boot linux installation, not touching my HDD and keeping it pure backup only. But I read a few threads here on reddit that suggested I dual boot my 2 installations of 2 different drives. Since there's a possibility that my bootloader GRUD (something like that) may get corrupted if there's a big update on either OS.
Is it safe to just partition my SSD and have both my windows and linux installation on 1 drive? or is it highly advisable I dual boot using 2 separate drives? I ideally want both OS to be on my SSD cause I like everything to be responsive, I just want to make sure if what I'm going to do is safe and I won't lose data
I'm sorry if this is a common repeated question in here
