๐ Need help to set up a raid controller (LSI 9341-8i, Ubuntu 20.04)

I'm trying to install an LSI 9341-8i raid card in a workstation (MSI TRX40 pro 10G, linux kernel 5.8.0-63-generic) and am running into trouble possibly at getting the linux driver operational. I am able to get into the card Bios and set the drives as JBOD (for use with ZFS). I've downloaded and installed the latest linux driver from Broadcom. The module shows up in lsmod:
megaraid_sas 163840 0
In lshw, the card appears as "unclaimed":
*-raid UNCLAIMED description: RAID bus controller product: MegaRAID SAS-3 3008 [Fury] vendor: Broadcom / LSI physical id: 0 bus info: pci@0000:03:00.0 version: 02 width: 64 bits clock: 33MHz capabilities: raid pm pciexpress vpd msi msix cap_list configuration: latency=0 resources: ioport:3000(size=256) memory:e8200000-e820ffff memory:e8100000-e81fffff memory:e8000000-e80fffff
And during boot, dmesg shows:
[ 0.953207] megaraid_sas: loading out-of-tree module taints kernel. When trying to access the card with the StorCLI utility from Broadcom, I get:
$ /opt/MegaRAID/storcli/storcli64 /c0 show CLI Version = 007.1705.0000.0000 Mar 31, 2021 Operating system = Linux 5.8.0-63-generic Controller = 0 Status = Failure Description = Controller 0 not found
Any help, suggestions or hints on how to investigate this would be really appreciated. It is my first time setting up a raid card, so I might very well missing an evident step...
Suggestion of more targeted forums / subreddit welcome too!
