๐ Why does NVidia tell me to download an unsupported driver when I check their drivers page?

I have an older laptop with an Nvidia Geforce 820M running Pop!_OS 21.04. My GPU only works with the nvidia-390 driver installed, classified by Nvidia as "legacy". Ok, understandable. it's an older GPU. But then why when I go to the Nvidia website, manually search for my GPU, it tells me to install the 430.40 driver?
If I download the 430 driver (without any prior drivers installed) it tells me install successfull and that I have to reboot. I reboot, the driver doesn't work. I start up the setup again and it tells me "The NVIDIA Geforce 820M GPU installed in this system is supported through the NVIDIA 390.xx legacy drivers."
Then why does their website point me to their newer driver? Am I missing something?
