What's the most lightweight operating system? I mean in terms of disk usage and hardware requirements. If it doesn't use GNU Core utils, that's a plus. It will run entirely on the framebuffer, so no need for graphical interfaces to unnecessarily bloat the system.

While we're at it, what are some less bloated alternatives to essential packages, like vi?

I'm thinking of gentoo, but removing gnu core utils seem like a very difficult task on it.
