๐ The 5G wifi problem - the linux community needs to face up to it

I recently bought a used destop PC with keyboard and mouse. It worked like a dream. Eveything was perfect, except for one thing: the Wifi dongle it came with was 2G, not 5G. This makes the world of difference. Basically, the wifi would fail half the time. Since this is unacceptable I realized I had to get a 5G wifi dongle. So I bought one, but it didn't do linux; so I returned it to Officeworks. Then I bought another one. It had a very easy installation process for Windows and Mac, but for linux you had to somehow understand a load of stuff about running bash scripts. Here's the thing - I have another life where I do other things. I don't have the time to become a Linux Systems Administrator, really I don't. So I bought another dongle, which according to the interweb worked out of the box. Did it? Nope. There was a startup folder which was for Fedora. I don't use Fedora. I'm a normal human, I use Ubuntu. Apparently I have to contact the Pandora company to figure out how to use the STANDARD LINUX DISTRIBUTION for your product. For the love of God... Anyway, that's a load of shit so I'm sending it back. However, the linux community needs to WAKE THE FUCK UP - we the humans need 5G wifi dongles that work out of the box. No joke. I hope I haven't induced liver failure to get this point across...
