๐ Why doesn't Mozilla Firefox fix Nvidia GPU support on Linux?

I might be probably lacking a lot of history and context, but if anyone could summarize, it would be appreciated.
Currently, for me, being an NVIDIA User, and someone who uses WebGL applications a lot (Some interactive meeting apps, RPG Platforms, etc.), it works so bad, I am forced to install Opera for the apps that use it.
Doing the famous WebGL Aquarium benchmark, on Linux, Firefox is absolutely catastrophic. On Windows, Firefox is still about 20% slower than chrome for rendering, but on Linux I get about 3FPS on that benchmark.
Anyone knows what is going on with Firefox and GPU Hardware Acceleration on Linux? Isn't Mozilla aware that a large user base of them are us suffering Linux users that want to support them?
PS: Please ignore my particular case, or hardware. Just interested in knowing why Firefox is not properly supporting hardware accelerated WebGL on Linux, where on Windows it works fine. Please don't focus on helping me to solve this, I know how :)
Thx!
