๐ top in batch mode show only cpu, mem, commandline

I'm struggling with top
usage.
The man page and the googling I've done seems mainly directed at interactive mode.
There may be a better tool: I want to follow CPU and memory usage by application/service while piping to a file that I can watch for flags. How can I build a top
command (or some other) that will get the info I want -- and only the info I want.
