๐ Switched to Linux at work, my experience.

So in the last 24 hours I switched my work system from Windows based to Linux, of course with blessing from the proper people. I went with Ubuntu Budgie, compatibility with Ubuntu so I didn't have to fight with the system to make it work since this is work after all. I also love the Budgie interface, can't tell you why, I just do.
I work in IT and even though we are a Windows shop, I rarely use the windows OS for anything at all. I have been using the Ubuntu WSL2 image for a while now or PowerShell 7.2. Very rarely does a GUI do me any good and for what little I would use it for, I have a Windows VM I can turn to or just RDP the system in a pinch. Most of my day is using the Azure CLI or PowerShell cmdlets, writing Ansible, Terraform, or Packer in vscode. Anything else I am in a browser window.
So my experience, losing OneDrive directly was a bit of a hit just because all of my files have been redirected to it over time. I did find a solution but I need approval through Azure AD, not a big deal for now, I can manage as is and use the web tools for what little I use Office products for.
Thunderbird setup was a breeze for my email, slack has a snap and was up in minutes. I actually found myself working better and my workflow being more efficient very quickly. Rather than using WSL or having to jump into a VM somewhere to do whatever work/testing/building I'm doing, I could just do it local. All of the VPNs I use have native clients, which is good since I can work on getting openconnect functional while knowing I can get into critical systems as needed.
Having been in the industry around 15 years I never expected that a switch would be this quick and easy to get back into but here I am, having switched and my workflow just works and that was shocking. It's only been a day but I see this working very well for me, especially as we move forward with our cloud goals.
