I have heard alot about Btrfs and thought I would give it a try since i was going to reformat my PC anyways. I ended up following a guide online thinking that i would end up understanding the filestystem more, but im just more confused now xD My current output is this:
โฏ sudo btrfs subv list /
ID 256 gen 388 top level 5 path @
ID 257 gen 391 top level 5 path u/home
ID 258 gen 339 top level 5 path u/root
ID 259 gen 17 top level 5 path u/srv
ID 260 gen 391 top level 5 path u/log
ID 261 gen 388 top level 5 path u/cache
ID 262 gen 388 top level 5 path u/tmp
ID 263 gen 19 top level 256 path var/lib/portables
ID 264 gen 20 top level 256 path var/lib/machines
ID 265 gen 339 top level 5 path timeshift-btrfs/snapshots/2022-09-26_15-07-50/@
โ
So do i have each of these maps in different subvolumes? And what is the benefit of this? The "only" benefit im seeing atm is that timeshift creates snapshots REALLY fast. Other than that i dont feel much of a difference.
Could someone help me understand this filesystem, and perhaps list a few Pros/cons of the system?
