Lately I've been trying linux more and more as a replacement for my macOS laptop for "serious stuff", installing it next to my "gaming" Windows installation. Besides I'm a software engineer/architect in a small company, so more like the CTO actually, and I'm due soon for a complete revamp of our existing architecture, from currently using only Windows Server to BSD/linux I hope, so learning about it doesn't hurt.
I recently went from Ubuntu, which I found far too corporate in spirit, to Fedora with i3-gaps, which I kinda like (I did rice it a bit). However I'd like to try all options, and I'd like if possible to avoid systemd, although I don't care too much about it. This got me interested into both FreeBSD and Void Linux (and Salix OS as a side thing) which seems to be one of the rare distros with minimal bloat, that follows KISS principles and no systemd, and isn't a fork of a fork of a fork...
To be honest, I'm leaning more towards FreeBSD right now because I just find it weird that nobody pays attention to an OS that seems so solid and well-documented. But as I already work a lot of hours I don't necessarily have the time to constantly switch. I don't mind fiddling around but I'd prefer to commit to one or the other.
