✅ Which standard linux directory has read/write/execute access enabled by default? Or which standard directory in linux is the equivalent of %LOCALAPPDATA% from windows?

Hi,

My application updates its files in the directory it is installed in , by downloading the new version of the application from the server when a new version is released. The problem I have run into is that I have to manually set the permissions for the installation directory to be `write access` enabled to achieve this. The only way to get around this is to use `sudo` when running the program's updater.

On windows, I don't have this problem when I install the application to %LOCALAPPDATA% as that folder in windows has read/write access enabled by default.

/var and /opt folders don't achieve this for me, as they don't have write access.

I was wondering if linux too has an equivalent to this? If not, how do I manage the updating functionality of my application's files on linux as I already do for windows?
