My name is Ziad, a self-taught / beginner designer.
Today, I am going to show how I started making this badge collection !
How it started
I started on GitHub by uploading a small project (a tool that converts host-names into IPs); so I wanted to make a beautiful README profile.
I looked up some examples, and I found that most of them used badges from the alexandresanlim / Badges4-README.md-Profile (a huge collection that I recommend checking out).
To be honest, I didn't really like them at first, simply because they were "too pointy".
So, as a respectable developer, I decided to make my own.
How I'm making them
I use Figma to make them (an amazing tool !).
The creation of a badge takes three steps :
- On a rounded rectangle ("pill" shaped), I put the logo (an SVG)
- I add the label
- I apply the dynamic material you palette colors

I made three variants per badge, with each variant having its own emphasis :
