➠ How to configure Host Managed SMR drives
I am new to Linux and trying to get some host managed SMR drives working on a Fedora desktop. I made sure to use the latest version of fedora, which has a compatible kernel. I've installed the necessary add-ons to view the device and verify it's recognized. But whenever I try to write a gpt partition table or format the drive to ext4, I get IO errors and corrupt partition tables.
Are there any resources out there that I can reference to try and get this working? I've been looking and haven't found anything that is helping. I reviewed the SMART scan results and the drive appears to be functioning properly, and they are supposed to be brand new. I can provide more info as needed, but at this point I have tried so many tools and commands I can't begin to post them all.
Any resources or advice is appreciated. And please remember I am new to Linux systems and Fedora, so expect noob mistakes to be a possibility here.
