All around us in nature, nothing is being done, but everything gets done
A lion spends 18-20 hours of its day snoozing away, Let alone the time is will spend just bathing in the sun.
Does the king have not affairs to tend to? There's an entire pride to take care of. How does everything get done when most of the time, nothing is being done?
How can we spend more time snoozing away and doing nothing and get all the matters of the pride completed like a lion?
Most of us do not truly know how to do nothing, neither do we know how to complete everything. We make a list of all the things we need to do, the things we want to do, and the things we've gotta get to at some point.
Somehow no matter how much motivation and energy we start with at the beginning of the day, we are depleted and our lists are no where near complete and they continue to be ever-growing.
You must realize that this "motivation" and "energy" is not a resource that gets reset every morning like spell slots on a D&D wizard after a long rest. They is something you generate and deplete. Everything you do will consume some sort of energy and motivation. If it requires any sort of "processing" or "consumption", even things like video games and scrolling social media, it is having the same effect on you as doing work would
Learn to do nothing. Sit there, look at the grass outside the window, and do nothing.
Become bored. Embrace boredom. Seek it, and lean into it.
It is in boredom that you'll muster enough energy and motivation to complete the things you must.
We often mistake rewarding activities like browsing memes and playing video games as "rest", when they sometimes they can be more demanding on our energy reserves than the work we think drains us.
As you plan your day, do things in the order of most boring, do not move on until you have completed the previous task and built up enough boredom to complete the next. You will take gar greater interest in the things you do. Moreover, throw in some blocks of doing nothing between your tasks, and truly do nothing. At most, go for a walk, but avoid anything that makes you think even 1% harder than your passive thoughts.
I've read about many studies that showed the benefits of doing nothing, but I am no scientist, I am a do-er, and a do-nothing-er, and I've mastered the art of using boredom and nothing to make the most boring tasks fun and rewarding.
I didn't see myself writing another blog post again, because although I always wanted to, I never had the energy and motivation to, until I mastered the art of doing nothing.
This is a very crude word vomit of some of my thoughts on this, but I will have a follow-up post with a step by step guide on to how to do more nothing to do everything.
I hope you do nothing, and that you complete everything.
