🐧 (Rant) I Am Going To Be Very Disappointed If KDE “Plasma 6” Ends Up Being Actually Really “Plasma 5 Ported To Qt6”…

As a long-time KDE user I learned to expect big changes between major releases.

KDE 3.5 to 4 was incredible…

KDE 4 to Plasma 5 was an awesome transition too…

But now I’ve been hearing Plasma 6 will be a minor release with not many visual changes?

It will be ported to Qt6, cool, but will remain stuck with a design from 2014?

Don’t get me wrong… Breeze is fine… it looks good and Plasma 5 is very stable and fluid… Breeze is fine, for KDE 5.

But… it’s a 9 year old design. IMHO it’s time for a change.

Historically, each major KDE series had its own visual identity. KDE 3.5 was Plastik, 4.x was Oxygen then later Air (a light variant of Oxygen)…

5.x brought Breeze.

6.0 should get it’s own design.
