📚 Looking for a Wayland compositor you can pilot the way wmctrl work
Does anybody know of a wayland compositor that support some way to replicate the what the wmctrl tool ?
I've repurposed my old logitech g13 (a left hand "gaming" keyboard) as a macro keyboard, at first with a tool I found on github, and now with one I wrote myself
I use it to launch apps or switch to them if they are already running, resize/move them to my preferences, or press some keys depending of the active app
But to do that I need to list every window currently running, know which one is the active one, be able to move/resize them or change the active one.
For that, I've used wmctrl, which do everything I need in a x11 context, but none of them for wayland apps, since these functionalities have been moved to the compositor and not the window manager, which is fine I suppose
At the moment, it means I'm forced to launch every app in xwayland mode, which is not ideal
I'm currently using ubuntu with kde plasma 5 (I had some unrelated issues with gnome)
I know that kwin has some scripting tool, but the thing is utterly complicated.
Anyway, I'm looking for any compositor with an API or command line tool similar to wmctrl and found nothing with Google. Any suggestion ?
