Kitty Control is a command line utility to control some aspects of the Kitty terminal emulator using Kitty's remote control facility. Linux and macOS platforms are supported.
Install Kitty Control with curl
:
bash curl -sL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/doctorfree/kitty-control/main/install | bash /dev/stdin
The Kitty Control install
script installs kitty
and fzf
if these are not already present. In addition some kitty
configuration files are installed as well as a kitten
used to load configuration files.
The kitty-control
command can be used to:
- Easily switch a running
kitty
instance configuration without restart - Set various
kitty
configuration options on the fly including font size, background, foreground, window size - Diff files or folders, selections are performed using the
ranger
file manager andfzf
fuzzy finder - Quickly and easily toggle fullscreen display of the
kitty
terminal window - Set the
kitty
theme on the fly using thekitty

- List colors, tabs, and windows
- Open an interactive menu system to easily browse
