Since early 2023, GPT-3.5-Turbo has been at the forefront of OpenAI’s models due to its compactness, affordability, and speed, which is faster than the latest SOTA models in their lineup. However, OpenAI’s newest model, GPT-4o Mini, is set out to replace it.
Critical Points of GPT-4o Mini
- Scoring 82% on Measuring Massive Multitask Language Understanding (MMLU), comparing it to 69.8% of GPT-3.5 Turbo and 77.9% of Gemini Flash.
- 60% cheaper than GPT-3.5 Turbo. Priced at just 15 cents per 1M input tokens and 60 cents per 1M output tokens.
- True Multi-Modal support like its older brother GPT-4o.
- A large Context window of 128K tokens supports up to 16K output tokens per request.
- Better Multi-Lingual support compared to GPT-3.5 Turbo.
- Parallel model calling for improved Agentic workflow.
With these benchmark results, it's safe to say that many developers will be shifting to GPT-4.0 Mini in their codebases.
