So, modem Linux distros like say...arch or Ubuntu Very clearly use the grub bootloader as a boot screen for their install media.
However older distros like: an ancient version of Ubuntu or even modern day Slackware use a different screen, the one that goes Press F1 for help or enter to boot Where you can pick different kernels or options or memtest86 idk ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Or even opensuse which has a more complex boot screen that loads the kernel in what looks like a different fashion and has many options
What are the names or these pieces of software? I suspect one of the two might be Lilo and I'm just too young but the others?
