Be like water my friend.
Bruce Lee
Some of us will have undoubtedly boring, simple, or easy jobs. The professionals that end up doing what they studied for are scarce, and ultimately if they get a job on their area of interest, it would be a job with a lower pay, doing the boring things that their more senior peers don't want to do.
This is necessary, a boring job that pay the bills is a great job, since it is not as sexy, there would be fewer people studying to work on the same thing, you'll have less competence. If it's easy, you'll excel doing some simple things, there are not many cons of that job.
Society needs this monotony to work as it works today, those boring jobs could be really necessary and the fact that you are doing them means that you are contributing to something bigger than yourself.
Except that you may not be living to your fully potential, you may not be working on something that interest you, and you may not be happy in the long run when you look back and that job was the only thing that you did for the past 10 years.
Have a side project.
This is not a new idea, a lot of people do it, and I'm here to tell you that you can do it too.
It will be hard, it will require additional time, and it could lead to nowhere, but doing something that you enjoy will give you enjoyment that otherwise would be difficult to get, that's enough.
If the side project is focused on a skill that you want to improve, if it could give you additional money in the future, or if you are helping someone while doing so, its a great plus.
You may be wondering if this could make your days easier or calmer in the future, don't think so. It is possible that you end up working a lot more, making your life unbalanced, sacrificing your free time, and being exhaust at nights, you can sort this out by being organized and having good habits, but it will be hard still.
The good thing is that even if you are working more and unbalancing your life, you'll look back and have something to remember, lessons, failures, hard nights, dummy projects and bad decisions, but something to remember anyways.
To be happy and fulfill you just have to be grateful with what you have and what you've done.
Happiness and fulfillment may be great at the present but may not be the best in the long run.
Focusing on a side project where you do few things you like or that you want to be good at may be great if you want to remember your days more.
Do you have a side project? Are you considering to have one? Why haven't you started yet? or What was your motivation for starting it?
