Install help - Acer ES1-533

Hi, I’m trying to install 24.10 on this laptop - I know it’s notorious for being problematic.

I’ve managed to get 22.04 working using a method involving booting with acpi=off nomodeset flag, then copying the bootloader across from an 18.04 live USB.

Any attempt to install 24.10 has failed, due to a /COW directory error.

Has anyone actually managed to pull this off, or is support for this laptop officially over? No big deal, it is a hobby project but I’ve tried literally every method (if you can think of it in 15 seconds, I’ve tried it….)

Grub GUI installer and chroot also fail. This laptop has a very poor UEFI implementation.

I doubt anyone’s succeeded, but if they have, I’m all ears….
