My clinic is next door to my faculty. There's a risk of bumping into last night's classmates, professors, friends.
- Oh, hey! What's up?
- Oh, just starting a new project. What's going on with you?
- I'm having burnout.
I.T. is an amazing field. There's always something going on. New things become old very quickly because of new new things. The people there are awesome. And the uncoolest person in IT is usually yourself.
Any code can be written better. Any task can be solved more optimally. Deadlines are tight, because tomorrow nobody will need your task. There are many people who coded at the moment when they learnt to eat a mash instead of mother's milk. What about me?
- How did the burnout start?
- Headaches. For that I had ibuprofen. Then dizziness. A couple of days off and back in action. Then I started getting nervous at work. And then, when the most important things were done, my body said: ‘Nope, it won't work like that.’
15 minutes. Now it's the maximum during which I can concentrate. And I'm painting sloths. The black and white sloth in trousers and hat is lying on a lily pad leaf and gazing dreamily into the clouds. The sloth will be brown. The trousers will be striped - pink, blue, green, purple. And a yellow hat. Yellow like the sun I'm dreaming of right now.
I'm not dreaming about work right now. I can't think about it. I can't think of anything right now.
I'll be a sloth for a while...
