Remote restore from LVM snapshot?

Linux Tipps vom 09.08.2018 um 01:34 Uhr | Quelle reddit.com

I've been fiddling with Logical Volume Management recently and there is one thing I don't get. Let's assume this scenario: I make lvm snapshot, I mount it, rsync it and make a tar.gz archive on another disk. I run apt-get upgrade and something goes wrong. I can run lvconvert --merge to revert - after reboot everything is as the upgrade's never happened. This part I understand. But what if a week ore more passes and I discover some bug due to the upgrade but the snapshot lvm is long gone and deleted? I can mount liveUSB and rsync files from tar.gz file but in case of headless server that would require some manual work. Not to mention if the server is not in the same building / town. Is there a trick to use lvm to use some saved snapshot to restore it, so I can do it all via ssh?
