Rant time: you can't just switch from Windows.

Guys, listen. I know Windows 11 is extra awful, even by Windows standards. I know you love gaming and you've got a nice rig. I know you bought a big fat nvidia card for your system. Tons of RAM before prices went crazy. Twin Optane SSDs that cost you three years of holiday gift money from your family as well as your last three checks from the retail store you work at part time while you go to college.

I get it; I used to BE you.

You can, if you want, switch to Linux. It's free, and supposedly it makes you a hacker or something. But I promise you your games are gonna run like shit. Your monitors aren't gonna work sometimes. Your seven-speaker headphones are gonna sound like broken glass. That nvidia card is gonna paint each frame like an episode of Bob Ross. (Watch him on YouTube, so soothing.)

It is absolutely possible to make all this work. If you're an engineer with years of experience and/or a curious person who is really dedicated to making something work on a system that isn't really supported for it.

If you're either of those people, feel free to post in r/linux about your trials and travails. War stories about how you fixed a crappy track pad with a custom driver are some of my favorites.

If you're mad that you tried Linux and expected it to be your drop-in Windows streaming rig that's gonna make you rich and famous playing Fortnite, please don't rant about it here; we already know it wasn't gonna work out for you, and no amount of "try cachyOS it's the best" is going to give you what you want.

Do you kids still play Fortnite? Whatever.
