The brand just announced a new Garage Tilt Sensor and an Outdoor Contact Sensor to help you keep tabs on things like sheds, side gates, and storage units. Both devices connect directly with Apple Home so you can easily link them to your existing setup. The new tilt sensor spots when a door swings open The Garage Tilt Sensor is made specifically for panels that swing open at an angle. It senses motion whenever a surface shifts more than 45 degrees from its normal resting spot. This makes it a great fit for traditional up-and-over garage doors, attic hatches, or basement windows. It runs on a battery that can last up to 10 years, which means you rarely have to think about maintenance. If a door starts to open or close, the Abode app sends an immediate alert to your phone. You can also tie the sensor into your home automation routines to trigger custom actions. For example, you could set your driveway lights to turn on the moment an entry gate opens after dark. A heavy-duty contact sensor limits false alarms outdoors Abode is also releasing a $49.99 Outdoor Contact Sensor that is built to handle the weather. Indoor sensors often struggle outside, so this IP66-rated model uses a stronger magnet and a wider activation gap. This setup helps reduce the false alarms that usually happen when wind shakes a fence. It is designed for metal gates, mailboxes, and detached structures. Under good conditions, both of these new sensors can stay connected up to 500 feet away from the main hub.
