Controlling a WD My Book enclosure's sleep timer from Linux via SES/SCSI

I wanted to change the automatic sleep/spindown timer of an old WD My Book 111D under Linux. The important detail is that the setting belongs to the WD enclosure/USB bridge, not to the HDD's ATA APM settings.
