Es wurde eine Schwachstelle in Microsoft Windows bis Server 2012 R2, ein Betriebssystem, ausgemacht. Sie wurde als problematisch eingestuft. Es betrifft eine unbekannte Funktion der Komponente Graphics Component. Dank der Manipulation mit einer unbekannten Eingabe kann eine Information Disclosure-Schwachstelle ausgenutzt werden. Dies hat Einfluss auf die Vertraulichkeit.

Die Schwachstelle wurde am 14.06.2016 als MS16-074 in Form eines bestätigten Bulletins (Technet) publiziert. Das Advisory kann von technet.microsoft.com heruntergeladen werden. Die Identifikation der Schwachstelle wird mit CVE-2016-3216 vorgenommen. Der Angriff kann über das Netzwerk erfolgen. Zur Ausnutzung ist keine spezifische Authentisierung erforderlich. Technische Details oder ein Exploit zur Schwachstelle sind nicht verfügbar.

Die Schwachstelle lässt sich durch das Einspielen des Patches MS16-074 lösen. Dieser kann von technet.microsoft.com bezogen werden. Das Erscheinen einer Gegenmassnahme geschah direkt nach der Veröffentlichung der Schwachstelle. Microsoft hat daher sofort gehandelt.

Mit dieser Schwachstelle verwandte Einträge finden sich unter 87946 und 87947.
