Russia's government-controlled Internet watchdog, Roskomnadzor, has ordered Russian Internet service providers to block access to adult websites PornHub and YouPorn. The decision to ban the two sites came after long legal that started in May 2016 when a judge ordered the two services blacklisted for violating "the ban on the dissemination of information regarding the production of pornographic materials and paraphernalia." Watching pornography is not illegal in Russia, but filming or spreading adult content is, according to article 242 of the Russian Federation's Criminal Code.
