I (and I assume most Linux users) have long regarded SIGKILL as the "be all end all" for terminating a process. But today while repairing a filesystem issue (the details aren't important) I tried to tried to kill dd but to my shock SIGKILL seemed to be ineffective. I had to ask ChatGPT what's going on. Turns out, there are many states a process...
