Hello,
First off, if this is not the correct subreddit, sorry, I will post somewhere else more appropriate (but this seems to be the best place as far as I know!)
Someone I know got hacked (or scammed) recently. The hackers pretended to be working for the bank and said there was a problem with the debit card. The victim had to install Anydesk so the hackers could have access to the bank account (the hackers also installed Google Chrome). The hackers made one transaction before the person realized this was a scam. The victim immediately called the bank to cancel the transactions.
My questions are:
- Is there a way that we can verify that the hackers did not install anything else on the computer?
- Is it possible that they compromised our local network so that they could gain access again in the future (either on the same computer or another one)?
- Is resetting the computer to factory default (Windows) enough?
Thanks a lot!
