Spoofing of university number and on website

Hey All,

I work at a University registration. Lately we've had some students mentioned they got a different number on our website than what is usually listed (all our numbers start with 440, this one did not) and that a message saying the call would be monitored for quality. This number then successfully connects with our line. We've tried it out and verified it's happening.

We've talked to our phone/IT department and both have verified that this number is not ours, but have had no luck tracing it.

As well, today I had a call from a number (caller ID said it was in our area code) that spoke only in Russian (or something sounding like it). This number than called back and it was one of our students who mentioned they had called this weird number initially after looking it up online. He mentioned the number changed back to the normal 440 number when he refreshed the page but then changed back again.

Any idea what is happening or how to solve it?
