What are Android's lock screen security protocols?

I've searched the interwebs to find mostly useless "Top 20 lock screens..." and HowTo's on setting up the lock screen with no value what so ever.

Just how we came to find iOS's lock screen security measures, What are Android's stock security measures, protocols set in place to prevent forced entry?
