I need some help! I bought a really expensive laptop back in November and I store and access a lot of sensitive personal files with it. I have set it up for decent security (encrypted drive, long password, private browsing on Firefox with no saved passwords or usernames, etc.) but I absolutely hate my current antivirus software and could use recommendations for a better one.
I got McAffee free with my internet and TV bundle so I’ve been using that but I’ve had nothing but problems. It keeps blocking connections to applications that I use for school and even after chatting with McAffee support, they couldn’t fix it. Also, the WebAdvisor wouldn’t stop spamming a notification to enable safe search and, again, support couldn’t stop it unless I just uninstalled WebAdvisor. Overall it’s been nothing but negative experiences and I honestly don’t even know how much protection I’m even getting from this software. Is there anything better or should I stick with this?
I’d like a program that isn’t super resource intensive but provides reasonable protection.
Also, as a side question. How can I make sure that the McAffee remote connect is disabled permanently?
