I had to replace my gateway recently as it was failing to properly forward ports (and Comcast, in their infinite wisdom, only lets you port forward through their wizard).
When I was setting up my new gateway, I was very shocked when they asked if I wanted to transfer over my old login information. The page then displayed my old Wifi name and the password in plaintext. They could have just transferred the old hash and it would have worked (but now I question whether they hash any passwords).
Thankfully I didn't use an important password. I can't believe a multi-billion dollar ISP stores user passwords in plaintext.
Moral of the story: don't trust comcast with any important passwords. If they're dumb enough to store gateway passwords as plaintext they're probably also dumb enough to store other passwords as plaintext.
