Which Linux distro to use?

I am looking to build my first computer, so this would be my first time officially using Linux on a personal computer.

I am a computer science student, and my school teaches it’s curriculum using Linux (Ubuntu) so I am pretty familiar programming/developing on that. I have been doing some research about what distro to use, and it seems like Ubuntu and Fedora would be two pretty good options for someone like me (a beginner Linux user with a CS background).

Are there any other distro I should be looking into, and what do you think Ubuntu or Fedora would be good option for me? Thanks!
