I am trying to install Linux to my desktop and dual boot with Windows. I have two separate drives that I am installing on. Windows is installed. Works fine. When I boot into my live usb, however, I get unfathomable screen flickering. So bad that I can't look at the screen long because it hurts my eyes. Also, when dragging a window, there is a large amount of lag (? idk if that is the correct term but the window doesn't move with the mouse. it is like it gets a late start.) I have tried a couple different distros (Mint, Manjaro) and both produce the same results. I even used the same image to install Mint to the Laptop that I'm using to type this.
I have tried enabling the nvidia proprietary graphics and the open-source ones. No change at all.
The Desktop's specs are as follows.
- Intel core i5 6400
- GTX 1060 (6GB) graphics
- 16 GB RAM
It is a Lenovo IdeaCentre that I bought at a big box store a couple years ago and have upgraded parts over time.
