I was browsing the web with a 3rd party browser on my fully updated iPhone XS. All of a sudden a couple files I didn’t recognize appeared in my browsers download tab. They seemed to be small data files of some sort. Next I was taken out of private browsing into normal browsing and a link to a random Xhamster.com video opened up.
I quickly closed the page and deleted the files, and then the app, so I didn’t have a chance to take note of the file types or names.
The only other way I’ve seen this happen is if I long pressed a link, and opened in new tab (regular browsing) which would then take me out of private browsing. But this was a bit different.
Can some of you knowledgeable security people point me in the right direction as to what to do next or if this is not a situation where my phone is compromised?
I’m contemplating factory resetting my iPhone, but first I would have to back it up to iCloud which in turn might save this “bug” since Apple isn’t the best at detecting them once inside.
Also... recently when playing anything on the loud speaker, sometimes when I put my hand on the phone it switches to playing audio directly into the ear piece, which wasn’t an issue a few weeks ago.
