tl;dr: Old slow HP "2 in 1" laptop. 32gb hard drive, 4gb RAM. It runs Ubuntu okay from Live Boot except for Firefox. I'm leaning towards installing Debian and i3 but if you have a light weight distro to recommend that "just works", as in a functioning browser and easy apt installs of VLC etc I'd appreciate it. All I'll be using it for is some media and web browsing and basic pen testing. Thanks.

I have this 4/5 year old HP tablet/laptop, 2 in 1 thing with Windows 10 on it. It's absolutely exhausting to use, it only has 32gb which is all full but 1gb even though I've installed nothing on it and only want to use it for web browsing and video/music when everything else is being used.
I kept having an issue with booting the repair partition so today finally decided to try an Ubuntu Live USB. From the USB drive it's running WAY better than Windows 10 already until I try to run Firefox and it just freezes. I THINK it's reading Firefox from the USB drive but really, really slowly since the USB stick is a cheap one anyway and it's USB 2.0 on top of that.
All my hardware is recognized so I'm tempted to just delete Win 10 and install it hoping that Firefox will just work once it's on the internal drive.
Either way, what distro would you recommend? Ideally I want something lightweight on CPU and hard disk. It has 4gb RAM so for daily web browsing anything should be okay.
