Why do a lot of techy youtubers not use or like linux?

Basically title however multiple people I've watched on youtube (Such as Tom Scott and Computing Forever who has become something of a political commentator) will straight up say they don't like linux, or in Tom Scotts case "When asked why not linux? No." When talking about programming.

Well let me que you in on something: I know for a fact that linux is preferred by industry professionals. Not all of them but the vast majority. Specifically: Sys-admins, Server People, White Hat Hackers, and Programmers twice over. If I'm completely frank I've only met a two programmers that preferred Windows and one that preferred OSX (but he mainly programmed for OSX so I'm supposing thats why.) The bulk of professors I've met while in college that were programmers preferred linux to windows and they all expressed that in no uncertain terms.

I bring up computing forever because he ran/runs a tech company of some kind and I was shocked upon hearing this. He went so far as to call linux unreliable, and when I heard that I just paused the video and laughed. Now granted he was talking about ubuntu 12.04 so maybe it was the OS he was using or something, but I personally love Ubuntu, even though things like Kali are better for the professional environment.

However every point that I've heard brought up by him is either false, or shows a lack of knowledge. And I think thats an important point in this case because these are supposed to be people who are knowledgeable. I personally keep a Mac Book laying around incase I have to work on Macs because its far more convenient than routing everything through Windows or Linux and a VM, so I could see the argument "Working on windows you should want to use windows" but this isn't that. From memory (a few days ago) when I watched the videos by these people talking about this kind of thing they all seem to:

  1. Be confused by the variety that linux offers. Thinking that somehow the tools are the same way.
  2. Lack an understanding of linux. I am about 50% more knowledgeable on a windows machine than on linux, and I can get linux to do more and that point alone suggests to me a lack of genuine skill with computers on their part.
  3. Its unreliable. Not really. In fact I know from my own statistics that I run on my machines that windows is consistently the least reliable of the OS's. Even if I do everything to tweak windows it still runs like shit.
  4. The windows updater. Need I say more? Ok I will. Literally everytime I boot to windows it wants to update, and said update takes an hour. Even my god damn virtual machines. Don't even get me started on forced updates. Every OS but windows has this figured out.
  5. Windows is known to run slower the longer its installed on a machine.
  6. The software is worse, somehow, and there are "flavors" of it. Not...not really?
  7. Misunderstanding the difference between a platform and the OS. A massive conflation of things like adobe and windows.

I would personally go so far as to say that I wouldn't trust a Sys-admin or someone repairing a machine I own if they didn't prefer linux. Windows, undeniably, despite my years of working as a sys-admin, my experience programming, and my experience working on servers/balance-loaders/whatever required a much smaller neck, with a much smaller beard than windows.

It seems to me to be an objective fact that Linux is just better. I've never seen windows do half of what Linux does at the same level of ease. Also I'm asking here because if I asked anywhere else people would just try to bash an OS they either don't understand or just don't like.

So wth? why are these people this way?
